Hey guys,
Need some help here, I've been debating on if I should get the Xbox One for awhile now and this morning my wife and I were talking and she gave me the ok. So, that being said I need to figure out which is the best bundle to get. Best Buy has a Titanfall / Wolfenstein combo for $550 but you get a $50 gift card with it.

The plan was always to get a One but I was pretty sure I would have to give up my 360. After some fierce (not really) negotiations, we've decided to keep both the Xbox's in our living room so I would still be able to game with Jamie & Nate (she doesn't really know the rest of you lol). So I think I'm going out either after work or on my lunch to pick up the Xbox One, just not sure which games I'll be able to get.

Which brings me to another point, are there any free games for the Xbox One? I know the games with gold but wasn't sure if there were any more available. I did a quick search on the Xbox.com games section for Xbox One and it seems like I'll be able to download xbox fitness and killer instinct for free. Plus I'll be able to get Max and Halo Spartan Assault too! WOO HOO!!!

In other news, I'll be there tonight for the gaming session. Maybe my downloads / updates will be done by then. lol

I'm not sure about the difference in prices over there but $550 For that sounds pretty good. Plus I've heard good things about both games.

Haven't played Max yet but Halo is good fun. Killer Instinct is a fun if not repetitive fighting game. I have heard rumours that free players can't unlock achievements but I'm not sure about that. I dint know of anymore free games beyond them.

All I can say is, Welcome to the dark side.
We''ll have to have a session of Co-op Halo at some point.

It's gonna kill you to play ours Gears session later when your itching to play with your new toy.

To me, yes that $550 bundle sounds decent. It's the full kit (console+kinect), plus Titanfall, plus an extra game, plus a $50 gift card. So essentially, you're paying $50 more for the normal Titanfall bundle to get $110 in bonuses ($60 game and $50 "cash", maybe towards a game or accesory/controller).

It seems like a really good deal. Hopefully there will be something just as good or better when the winter holidays approach. Maybe I'll think about it then... although I would probably need a new TV, since mine has HDMI ports that are not HDCP compliant (and yes, I've tried firmware updates; research points to it needing a $500+ system board update).

Now you've got me worried, how am I to tell if my TV is HDCP compliant?

And I've checked into the systems and it looks like the system with Wolfenstein isn't available. Might be a new promotion so I think that is out of it. I'll probably just get the Titanfall Edition and call it a day.

I was hoping to get some time in before our boosting session but I have a feeling it's going to take quite a bit of time to download any updates as well as install any games should I get it hooked up. I definitely would look forward to some Halo Spartan co-op. I'll check on the Killer Instinct too... might just be a fun game to play around with.

I'm not sure how it works in America but in Euroupe TV's are advertised as 'HD Ready'... By law to classify as HD Ready a tv needs to be HDCP compatible, among other things. I assume a similar law exists in the USA.
It's very hard to find a HD TV these days that isn't HD Ready.

Well, I'm just going to go with it. If it doesn't work, I'll tell my wife we need a new tv. They should be cheap enough at Walmart. lol

Reading up on it and found this. Not sure on reliability but it sounds like you both should be fine.

QuoteMicrosoft recognised the defunct nature of HDCP and stated that Xbox One games wouldn’t contain HDCP encryption (great news for those who love to record and share their favourite Call Of Duty head shots), although services such as NetFlix and DVD playback would require an HDCP compliant TV.

That sounds basically like the situation I've been in with my existing TV. I have been able, in the past, to play Xbox games with my HDMI connection just fine, but any digital video that has copy-protection (Netflix, HD videos, etc) would play the audio only and just show the Xbox logo instead of the video and pop a HDCP link error message. Plus, whenever I plug my cable box or Blu-ray/DVD player, or receiver via HDMI, those devices throw up a similar HDCP error message.

It's just an issue for my specific TV that I've always had because I bought it at a time that HDCP support was just starting to roll out. So, since I was using my 360 heavily as a Netflix machine for a while, I just switched from HDMI to component cables. Until I replace my TV, I wouldn't be able to plug my cable box into it to do all the crazy voice switching and video snapping stuff.

@Brutalsleeper Do you have your 360 connected to your One via the HDMI port or do you connect it directly to the tv? I thought I've heard that if you go through the HDMI port on your One, the video and audio can be choppy. Just trying to figure out the best way to hook it up. I'm guessing I'll keep it separate because if it does go through the One, I'll be consuming power for both the One and the 360, right?

I connect it direct to TV. I haven't tried to connect through the ONE.
I fiqure that the simplest solution is the best.
So I'm not sure about the dis/advantages fo connecing through the ONE.

I figured that would be the way to go. I think it's somewhat unnecessary to do it the other way around. So, can you give me some pointers on the usage of Xbox One? Like, how do you record video... hook up to twitch etc etc.

I think once you give it your Twitch.tv credentials, you can just bark orders at it. "Xbox, stream that"

Any chance I'd be able to hook the Xbox One up to the toaster, microwave and / or any pizza places around here. lol I'd never have to leave my chair.

They will probably port over one of the apps, like whatever chain pizza place has an app on the 360 (Pizza Hut, I think?). "Xbox, order pizza"
